The
challenge for Lucent was to create a caring
environment, stimulate productivity, and
convey the high-tech nature of the company's
business. Post occupancy evaluations of
employee satisfaction were performed to
develop a consistent facility design strategy
for four locations, while being sensitive
to local conditions and cultures. The user-friendly
space plan(s) included a cluster workstation
plan designed to emphasize teamwork, technology,
flexibility and creativity. These clusters
supported their supervisor to subordinate
ratio of 12-1. All locations feature high-tech
audio/visual teleconferencing and self-paced
learning facilities. In addition to handling
inbound and outbound calls, the center is
a marketing showcase for the client's products
and services.
